The author gratefully thanks colleagues in ZISP: Dr. S.V.Mironov for the discussion of data recieved; Dr. M.V.Zaytsev for the consultations on the systematics of Lipotyphla; Ms. G.I.Baranova, curator of the Mammalia collection, and Ms.S.Sukhoruchenko, keeper of the Mammalia collection, for the opportunity to work with the alcohol-preserved specimens of mammals; Drs. E.V.Dubinina, E.F.Sosnina and A.A.Stekolnikov for the loan material on Myobiidae for study. We would like to express our thanks to Prof. Dr. Fain (Institute royal des Sciences naturelles de Belgique, Brussel) and late Dr. F.S.Lukoschus (Zoological Institute, Catholic University, Nijmegen) for send-ing the type material of Myobiidae.

Annotation:

The article deals with the cladistic system of myobiid mites (Myobiidae, Protomyobiini) parasitic on Lipotyphla. The tribe is divided by author into 3 subtribes: Afromyobiina, Protomyobiina and Amor-phacarina, with the last one containing two supergenera, Amorphacarus and Eadiea. 12 species of mites belonging to 4 genera of the family Myobiidae (Acariformes) were found on Lipotyphla (Mammalia) in the fauna of the former USSR. Of these, 2 species are considered to be new for science. The presence in Russia of 3 otherspecies is postulated. Identification keys are presented for all species and genera found. Original generic diagnoses and new original species drawings are also provided.
