NOTES ON SYSTEMATICS, DISTRIBUTION AND ECOLOGY OF MITES OF THE GENUS FAGACARUS (ACARIFORMES: ACARIDAE)

Annotation:

The external morphology of adults and un-known hitherto hypopi of Fagacarus Fain et Norton is studied. The subfamily Fagacarinae Fain et Norton is given the tribe status, Fagacarini stat. n. (Acaridae, Rhizoglyphinae). The genus Fagacarus is recorded in the Palaearctic region for the first time. It is hypothesized that the species of Fagacarus are the obligate mycetophagous inhabi-tants of decaying wood.
