Annotation:
Several species of cheyletid mites (Acari: Chey-letidae) presenting 16 of 32 known genera were revised. Eight new species and one new genus are described: Kenyacheylus troglodytes g.n., sp.n., Kerafrotropicalissp.n., Cheletophyes vespaesp.n., Chelacaropsis kenyensis sp.n., Hoffmannita ger-soni sp.n., Bak nadchatrami sp.n., Chelacheles algericus sp.n. and Prosocheyla ripkai sp.n. Six known species are redescribed: Cheletomorpha bakeri Lawrence, 1954, Hylopecheyla bunguran-ensis Fain, 1972, Cheletophyes vitzthumi Oude-mans, 1914, Ch. eckerti Summers et Price, 1970, Acaropsella kinshasensis Fain, 1972 and Samsina-kia carabae Ramaraju et Mohanasundram, 1999. The males of five species such as Cheletonella vespertilionis Womersley, 1941, Mexecheles vir-giniensis (Baker, 1949), Ker bakeri Zaher et Soli-man, 1967, Chelacaropsis terrestris Corpuz-Raros et Sotto, 1977, and EutogenesfraterVo\gm, 1958 as well as the female of Pavlovskicheyla philippi-саиа Corpuz-Raros, 1998 are described for the first time. Twenty-one species are synonymized and 14 species are considered as species inquirendae. Keys are provided for all studied genera.
