This work was supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (Grant 01-04-49778). The help of Dr. A.R. Nesterov (Electron Microscopy Laboratory of Geological Faculty, St. Petersburg State University), as well as of Dr. R. Verhoeven and Dr. P. van Wyk (Electron Mi-croscopy Unit, UOVS) in SEM study of ticks, is greatly appreciated.
Annotation:
There are described new cases of capsule du-plication in Haller's organ of prostriate ticks (.Ixodes persulcatus larva and I. ricinus nymph from laboratory cultures), with a discussion of body parts duplication phenomenon in prostriate and metastriate ticks.
