Acknowledgments:
The author would like to express his special thanks to Dr. Tadeusz Mizera and Dr. Grzegorz Maciorowski from the August Cieszkowski Agri-cultural University of Poznan for collection of material and. Prof. Czestaw Btaszak from the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan for consultations in the determination of mites from the family Halolaelapidae.
Annotation:
This short communication is an attempt to sup-plement the knowledge of mite fauna in the nests of birds of prey (Falconiformes) and owls (Strigi-formes). A preliminary analysis of the occurrence of mites depending on the species of the nesting birds is conducted. The species composition of mites is compared with results obtained by other authors.
