Flechtmann (Departamento de Entomologia, Fit-opatologia e Zoologia Agricola, Universidade de Sao Paolo, Brazil), and A. Skoracka (Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland) for sending some rare papers. I thank Dr. A. Chandrapatya (Department of Entomology, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand) who loaned the comparative material. I am grateful to Dr. S. I. Sukhareva (Biological Research Institute of St. Petersburg State Universi-ty, Old Peterhof, Russia) for reviewing the manu-script and to Drs. G. J. Konechnaja and P.G. Efimov (Komarov Botanical Institute, Saint Petersburg, Russia) for determination of host plants and for assistance in the field work.

Annotation:

Mites of the genus Leipothrix Keifer, 1966 are recorded from Russia and Ukraine for the first time. A new species, Leipothrix hirtus sp. n. from Carex hirta L. (Cyperaceae), is described and poorly known L. roivaineni (Liro, 1943) comb. n. (from Epitrimerus) from Eriophorum latifolium L. (Cy-peraceae) is redescribed. Epitrimerus eriophori Roivainen, 1947 syn. nov. is considered as a junior subjective synonym of Leipothrix roivaineni. Tax-onomy of the genus Leipothrix is briefly discussed.
