Annotation:

Two new species of the feather mite genus Amerodectes Valim et Hernandes, 2010 (Proctophyllodidae: Pterodectinae) are described from passerines of the New World: Amerodectes tiaris sp. n. from the Yellow-faced Grassquit Tiaris olivaceus (Thraupidae) from Cuba and A. zonotrichiae sp. n. from the Rufous-collared Sparrow Zonotrichia capensis (Emberizidae) from Chile. A brief review of taxonomic works dealing with the Pterodectes generic complex is provided.
