Laboratory culturing of Galumna flabellifera Hammer, 1958, Pergalumna brasiliensis (Sellnick, 1923) and P. decoratissima Pérez-Íñigo and Baggio, 1986 (Oribatida: Galumnidae) was conducted. The development period from larva to adult at ≈25 °C was 23–27 days (mean ≈25) for G. flabellifera, 27–45 (≈35) days for P. brasiliensis and 35–43 (≈38) days for P. decoratissima. For the latter species, the total development from egg to adult took 49–54 days (mean 50). All active instars fed on Alternaria sp. and Pleurococcus sp.; however, adults preferred fungi, while juveniles preferred algae.
